Fake GPS Tools
Privacy policy
Updated: 12 October 2026
About this policy
This policy covers Fake GPS Tools (com.fakegps.tools), distributed by the fakegps.com project. It describes this version of the Android app, not other apps, websites or future features. No account is required. This app has no advertising or analytics SDKs and does not upload your points, routes or GNSS recordings to a developer server.
Location and background observation
Precise location and GNSS measurements are processed on the device to display position, satellites, receiver time and signal diagnostics. Mock mode sends your chosen test coordinates to Android, where other permitted apps can receive them. GNSS observation only starts when you request it; background observation is a separate option. Location simulation and enabled background observation can continue when the app screen is closed or the phone is locked, with a foreground notification. Stop them from the app or notification. This app cannot control how other apps store or transmit coordinates.
Map and address search
The map downloads tiles over HTTPS from tile.openstreetmap.org. OpenStreetMap receives your IP address, requested tile coordinates and an app-identifying User-Agent; these requests can reveal the map area you view. Address search uses Android Geocoder, which may send your search to a provider chosen by the device or operating system. Google Play services may participate in delivering test locations. These providers process requests under their own policies. Map cache is local. No bulk offline map download is provided. Opening website links or sending email uses external apps and their policies.
Data kept on this device
Favorites, recent test points, imported routes, settings and optional GNSS session files are stored in the app's private storage. Recording is started explicitly; including position in a recording is a separate choice. Android backup or device transfer may copy settings, favorites, history and saved routes according to your system settings. GNSS session files, delivery traces and location-disclosure confirmation are excluded from app backup. Release delivery traces are disabled; Android may keep local diagnostic/error messages. Exported files are saved only to a destination you choose and may contain coordinates.
Why permissions are declared
Precise/approximate location enables receiver diagnostics and Android location services. Foreground-service permissions allow the location simulation and optional GNSS observation to continue with a notification; notifications provide status and stop controls. Background location is declared for background location features, but this version does not request the separate 'Allow all the time' grant. Wake lock supports running location simulation. Battery-optimization exemption is optional and requires your action in system settings. Internet/network access is used for maps and service availability. Files are accessed through the Android file picker, without broad storage permission.
Your choices and deletion
You can decline location access and still view the map. Location simulation and GNSS reception require precise access. Revoke permissions in Android settings, stop background work, delete saved points/routes/session recordings inside the app, or clear app storage to remove its local data. Exported files, emails and Android backup copies are separate: delete/manage them at their destinations. Uninstalling the app does not erase copies you exported or backups kept by other services. No developer account or server-side location database is created by the app.
Testing and diagnostic limits
Fake GPS Tools is for development and testing, not navigation or safety decisions. Test Location data is separate from hardware GNSS status and is marked as mock by Android. Interference analysis reports experimental changes in available receiver measurements, not a verified probability of jamming or spoofing. Lack of data or lack of changes does not establish signal authenticity, including when observation starts under existing interference.
